Desert Palms Nursing Institute (DPNI) was created by nurses, for future healthcare professionals.
Located in La Quinta, California, DPNI is a nurse-owned nursing education institute dedicated to preparing compassionate, confident, and skilled healthcare professionals to serve the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities.
We believe that a career in healthcare should be accessible to individuals who are ready to work hard, learn, and make a difference — whether they are taking their very first step into healthcare or continuing their nursing education.

Desert Palms Nursing Institute was founded by Maricela Castillo, MSN-Ed, RN, CCRN, and Laura Rivera, BSN, RN, two experienced nurses who share a passion for nursing education and developing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
DPNI was created with a simple belief:
Students deserve instructors who are invested in their success.
Our students learn from healthcare professionals who understand what it is like to care for patients, work as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, and navigate the challenges of beginning a career in nursing.
We strive to create a learning environment where students can ask questions, practice skills, build confidence, learn from mistakes, and grow into professionals.

Our goal is not simply to educate students — it is to strengthen our local healthcare workforce.
By preparing qualified nursing assistants and future healthcare professionals locally, we hope to create new career opportunities for members of our community while helping hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health organizations, and other healthcare providers meet their workforce needs.
For many students, becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant is only the beginning.
A CNA certificate can be the first step toward becoming an LVN, RN, advanced practice nurse, or another healthcare professional. We want our students to see what is possible and leave DPNI with the confidence to continue moving forward.
